Product Notes

Antinori Tenuta Tignanello Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG is a premium red wine that is produced in the Chianti Classico region of Toscana, Italy. It is made from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes, which are handpicked from their estate vineyards. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months, then in bottle for an additional 12 months before it is released. The result is a complex, full-bodied wine with aromas of dark cherry, red fruit, vanilla, and spice, and flavors of black cherry, plum, and leather. It has a long and smooth finish with firm tannins that make it a perfect wine to pair with red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses.

About the Winery

Antinori Tenuta Tignanello

The Tenuta Tignanello estate at the heart of Chianti Classico is home to the Solaia and Tignanello wines, considered internationally to be among Italian viniculture’s most influential wines.

The Tenuta Tignanello estate has the prized Solaia and Tignanello vineyards. The calcareous-rich soil with the presence of marl and alberese, 350-400 meters above sea level, and temperature fluctuations throughout the day make it the ideal location for vineyards. The vines in the estate enjoy a favorable growing climate-hot in the mornings and cold during the evenings, especially during the growing season.

The estate houses the Sangiovese grapes, indigenous to the region, and other exotic grape varieties like Cabernet Franc. Malvasia and Trebbiano varieties of grapes are also grown in the estate for producing Vinsato, and 37 hectares have been allotted for olive production.

Each vineyard has its own vinification and aging cellars that help provide refinement and fineness to the wines. Vaulted ceilings formed by gentle arches characterize the Tignanello vineyard cellar. The wines are aged in Hungarian and French oak barriques before being blended to create Tignanello. The Solaia cellar has a cross-vaulted stone ceiling with French oak barriques to age the wine.

The famous wines from the Tenuta Tignanello estate include:

Solaia: Made in the Solaia vineyard located in the sunniest part of the hillside of Tignanello. The wine is a product of the finest Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the vineyard, of utmost passion, research and care.

Tignanello: This wine is a milestone in the Antinori winemaking business, as it was the first contemporary red wine to be blended with exotic varieties like Cabernet, one of Chianti Classico’s first-ever red wines not to use white grapes, and the first wine produced from Sangiovese grapes to be aged in barriques. The wine is made in the Tignanello estate located close to the Solaia estate.

Marchese Antinori: The wine has been in production since 2011 and is produced from grapes from the Tignanello vineyard. Made with a significant portion of Sangiovese grapes and other complementary varieties, it expresses the Sangiovese grapes grown in the region.
