About Auntsfield Estate

Established in 1873, Auntsfield Estate was a venture of David Herd. David was a person with an active imagination and a love for wine. This aspect of his nature and personality led him to become the founding winemaker in Marlborough. Today, the region receives fame and reputation as one of the best for winemaking worldwide. Initially, it was David who realised and recognised that potential. He discerned the nature of the soil, weather, and landscape of the area. Finally, he concluded that they were perfect for growing grapevines and producing wines. He made his dream come true through Auntsfield Estate.

After David passed away in 1905, his son-in-law took over the winery and continued his legacy. He ensured that the cellar, vineyards, and other parts of Auntsfield Estate get restored carefully to last for a long time.

Auntsfield Estate is exceedingly renowned for producing hand-crafted and high-quality Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. All the grapes that the winery uses grow in the vineyards they own. The plots of Auntsfield Estate take complete advantage and benefit from the climatic condition and soil of the region. The vineyards remain separated into more than fifty small and distinctive blocks. Each of them gets planted with clones of the three varieties of grapevines that get selected with scrutiny. The blocks reveal and deliver an underlying and hidden personality cultivated over several years. These characteristics of the land and environment add an intricate layering to the wines produced by the winery.

Auntsfield Estate aims and works to produce wines that can express the quality and attributes of their terroirs. They do so by taking extreme and extensive care of the vineyards and the winemaking process. Their viticulture process is such that it allows the wines to develop a rich appeal, aroma, flavour, and charm.
