Product Notes

Domaine Jean Foillard Morgon Cuvée Classique is a wine with a deep, vibrant color and a complex bouquet of red fruits, spices and floral notes. The palate is lively with a refreshing acidity, balanced tannins and a long, silky finish. This wine is made from Gamay grapes grown in the Morgon appellation in Beaujolais, France and is aged in oak barrels for 6-9 months.

Jean Foillard is known for his natural winemaking techniques, which involve minimal intervention and the use of indigenous yeasts. The result is a wine that showcases the terroir of the region, with a beautiful expression of the Gamay grape. It is an excellent choice to pair with red meat, game or cheese.

Tasting Notes

The Morgon Cuvee Classique is ruby red with a robust nose of complex red and black fruit aroma, as well as earthy notes. On the palate, it is similarly layered: sour cherry, black plum, dried flower and leather, with great depth and a lengthy finish. This is a lighter style of wine that nevertheless offers wonderful complexity and depth.

About the Winery

Domaine Jean Foillard

Jean Foillard took over his fathers estate in 1980.

Most Domaine Jean Foillard vineyards are planted on the Cote du Py slopes, one of the most distinguished sub-regions in the Morgon Cru area. Thanks to its granite and schist soils Morgon produces fleshy, concentrated, complex and age-worthy Gamay wines.

Early on Jean turned his focus to traditional viticulture and vinification ensuring minimal intervention such as low doses of sulphur and not using synthetic herbicides and pesticides. Today, Domaine Jean Foillard is a certified organic producer.
