Product Notes

Garage Wine Co. Old Vine Pale Rosé Lot 113 is a unique wine that's made from the old-vine Pais grape, which was originally brought to Chile by Spanish missionaries. The grapes for this wine are grown on dry-farmed vineyards in the Maule Valley, which are known for producing wines with intense flavor profiles. As a result, this rosé boasts a bright, citrusy nose with notes of raspberry, quince, and red currant. On the palate, it's crisp, refreshing, and well-balanced with a long finish. True to the Garage Wine Co. philosophy, Lot 113 is made with minimal intervention to showcase the natural expression of the vineyard. It's a perfect summer sipper that will delight any wine lover.

Tasting Notes

A cheeky chilled red with a very tasty palate: vivid notes of pomegranate, cranberries, wild strawberries and citrus with herbs that literally makes you hunger for food. Oily on the palate with crunchy berries and linear acidity to match mid-weight phenolics. Delicious and serious. Note : this wine by the glass will make the most macho of men break down and sing the praises of pink. Put it by the glass and/or offer a taste and soon you will have everyone pointing at the bottle to ask: What else do you have by these people?

About the Winery

Garage Wine Co.

The Garage Wine Company Winery, located in Chile, is the place you need to go if you want to learn the art of personally crafting wines with hands. In the era of technology and modern equipment, this is a winery where the traditional methods are still followed perfectly.  The wine production is quite limited here, because the process of cultivating, fermenting, storing and marketing the wines is very different here, when compared to the other wineries.

This winery was started by Derek Mossman, his wife, Pilar Miranda and Dr. Alvaro Pena. All three of them had many years of experience in working with other wineries; therefore, they decided to consolidate their expertise and start a company, where they wouldn’t rely on machines but their own hands.  The grapes are sourced from the small-level wine farmers in the Chilean areas of Maule and Malpo. Then, the team at Garage Wine Company, start their natural process of making wines. Today, the winery makes around 1500 cases of wine per year. Carignan, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are the grapes used for making wines here.

In this winery, fermentation is done very naturally without the addition of any chemicals or toxic products. Only native yeast and a small amount of wood are used in this process. The grapes are pressed by hand in small, old-style baskets, to extract the full flavour and character of the fruits. Derek and his team knew that their winery’s independent style of working couldn’t stand next to the international wine players that had huge wineries in the world. However, he didn’t want the traditional wine-making process to be forgotten as well.

So, the owners of Garage Wine Company, along with 11 other small, independent winery owners started the MOVI (Movement of Independent Vintners) in 2009. Today, more than 30 small wineries spread across Chile and Garage are part of this movement.
