Product Notes

Glaetzer Wallace is an exceptional Shiraz-Grenache blend from Barossa Valley, South Australia. Its deep ruby color and full-bodied palate are a testament to its premium winemaking process. The nose is dominated by dark fruit aromas, including blackcurrant and blackberries, with subtle hints of spice and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is rich and bold, delivering a depth of flavors including intense dark chocolate, plum, and red fruits. The tannins are firm, yet velvety, and create a long, luscious finish. This wine is an excellent example of the quality and complexity that Australian red wines can offer.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Deep garnet. Aroma: Hints of red currant, clove and spice. Palate: Fresh juiciness combines with supple tannin and pronounced flavours of licorice and mulberry.

About the Winery

Glaetzer

The family-owned boutique winery of Glaetzer Wines has been in the business since 1995. It is located in Australia’s premium wine area of Barossa Valley. It was during 1888 that the first Glaetzer family member moved to Australia from Germany. Today, this family is highly regarded as one of the most ancient viticulturalists in the Barossa Valley.

The grapes for the premium quality of Glaetzer wines are cultivated in a small place towards the north of Barossa Valley – Ebenezer. This place is filled with dry-grown vineyards that produce wines that are true representations of the Australian culture and heritage. The low rainfall and a reasonably humid climate of this region ensure that the grapes grown here are fully-flavoured and soft. The second reason for the great quality of grapes produced in Ebenezer is because of the unique soil quality. Sandy-clayey-loamy soil that is well-drained out is applied over a limestone pan, making it one of the best types of soil for growing the Shiraz varietals.

The winemaking process is done in such a way that it doesn’t endanger the environment at all. Only a neutral strain of yeast is used for fermentation to ensure that the grapes don’t lose their natural flavours. French and American hogshead barrels are used in this winery for the process of natural malolactic fermentation, which gives a silky and smooth texture to the wines crafted here.

Though only limited Glaetzer wines are produced every year, the winery is known for producing wines that are unique and intense. The four popular wines produced here are the following:

  • Amon-Ra – Made from high-quality Shiraz varietals and is known for its elegance and fine balance
  • Anaperennia –Bold and opulent wine made with the smooth combination of the Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals
  • Bishop – Made from the Classic Barossa Shiraz varietal and has an excellent structure
  • Wallace – Made by blending the Shiraz and Grenache varietals and is soft yet full-flavoured
