Product Notes

Henschke Giles Pinot Noir is a refined and elegant wine that embodies the essence of the Adelaide Hills region in South Australia. This Pinot Noir has a deep ruby color and a delicate aroma of black cherry, raspberry, and spicy vanilla notes. The taste is smooth, well-balanced, and has a long finish that reflects the complexity of the wine.

Henschke Giles Pinot Noir is made from grapes sourced from the estate’s vineyards in the Adelaide Hills region that are handpicked and carefully selected to ensure the highest quality. The wine is matured in oak barrels for 12 months, resulting in a wine that has exceptional depth and character. This wine pairs well with game, roasted meats, and rich stews.

About the Winery

Henschke

Located in the South Australian region of Keyneton, Henschke Wines is a 151-year old family-owned wine brand. It is one of the most popular wines crafted in Australia’s reputed wine areas of Eden Valley. It all started when the founder of the Henschke brand, Johann Christian Henschke planted the first vine in the vineyards of Keyneton during 1862.

The grapes for Henschke wines are sourced from three main regions – Eden Valley, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills.

Eden Valley - Established in 1866, Eden Valley is the most important wine region for Henschke Wines as two of the brand’s iconic vineyards, Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone, are located here.  The Hill of Grace wine, crafted using Shiraz grapes, is the flagship wine of this brand. It is not surprising that this wine went on to become one of the cult and best ever wines produced in Australia in a very short time.

The sandy loam soil covered with clay-weathered subsoils, dry viticultural practices followed and the hilly climate makes it ideal for cultivating varietals such as Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Nebbiolo, Tempranillo, Barbera and Muscat Blanc.

Barossa Valley - Located at the backdrop of the Barossa range, this region extends from Truro to Williamstown. It was established during 1842. You will find diverse quality of soils here – brown clay, reddish brown earthy soil and yellow sandy soils. The Henschke brand sources the Mataro grape varietal from the Mataro Mass Selection Block vineyard located here.

Adelaide Hills - Stretching to a distance of about 70km, the Adelaide Hills region was set up during 1839. The place enjoys a cool but moderate maritime climate, and contains sandy loam soil. These conditions make it ideal for cultivating the Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals.
