About Howard Park
The Margaret River area in Great Southern Australia is one of the most reputed wine areas in the world. The cool climate and excellent terroir of this place make this a haven for wine enthusiasts. Howard Park is a wine brand that realized the potential of this area many years ago. This wine label was established during 1986 and it continues to charm wine lovers till date.
The team at Howard Park Winery is highly experienced and professional. As a result of this, they have been sourcing grapes for their wines from some of the most fertile wine areas in Australia such as Margaret River and Great Southern.
The team has chosen two vineyards from each of these regions to source its grapes from. In the Margaret River region, the grapes grown in Leston and Allingham vineyards are used while in the Great Southern, the grapes grown in Mount Barrow and Abercrombie vineyards are used by the team at Howard Park to make their wines.
Leston Vineyards – First vines were cultivated here in 1996. These vineyards comprise 75 hectares under vine and are ideal for varietals such as Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Merlot, Semillon, Muscat and Petit Verdot.
Allingham Vineyards – Purchased by the Howard Park in 2014, this vineyard covers 30 hectares under vine. The varietals grown here are Chardonnay, Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc.
Mount Barrow – Currently, these vineyards cover 68 hectares under vine. Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are cultivated here.
Abercrombie – This area covers only 10 hectares under vine. Houghton Massale Section Clone and Chardonnay are cultivated here.
These vineyards are chosen with great care considering their potential to produce high quality of grapefruit, because the people here believe that it is the fruit that decides the texture of the wines. The aim of the team is to produce wines that age well and reflect the richness of the regions where they are cultivated.
