Product Notes

Joseph Drouhin Mâcon-Lugny Les Crays is a delicious white wine that showcases the terroir of the Mâcon-Lugny region in Burgundy. The wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes and is a perfect representation of the elegance and finesse that is characteristic of Burgundy wines. It has a beautiful golden color and exudes aromas of freshly picked apples, peaches, and apricots. On the palate, this wine is refreshingly crisp with a touch of minerality and a long, clean finish. It pairs perfectly with fresh seafood, grilled chicken, or even a light salad. Overall, Joseph Drouhin Mâcon-Lugny Les Crays is an exceptional wine that offers drinkers a taste of some of the best that Burgundy has to offer.

Tasting Notes

The wine reveals an appealing freshness. It combines the maturity of the fruit and freshness over an almost salty structure. It shows a shining colour, a nose reminiscent of flower and peach, and a full mouth with a mineral finish.

About the Winery

Joseph Drouhin

If you are looking to taste the best of wines from the Burgundy region, you have to try wines from the French wine label, Joseph Drouhin. The vines are grown on 90 appellations located across some of the richest terroirs in Burgundy here. Started 140 years ago, this wine label is run by the fourth generation of the Drouhin family with the same amount of dedication and passion as before.

The Joseph Drouhin Domaine is considered as one of the largest wine estates in Burgundy. Currently, the estate comprises of 80 hectares of vineyards located in all the wine-rich areas of Burgundy. Out of these 80, 38 are found in Chablis, 38.5 hectares are found in Cote de Nuits and Cote de Beaune and 3.5 hectares are found in Cote Chalonnaise. A grand, 18th-century watermill, the property of Joseph Drouhin, is regarded as the headquarters of the premium Drouhin Domaine in Chablis.

The two famous Burgundy grape varietals of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are grown in these vineyards. The estates are neatly classified into Premier and Grand Cru. Apart from growing their own grapes, Joseph Drouhin also buys grapes from other wine-growers, who are their long-standing partners. In 2008, this label created the historic “Chablis Wines,” which speak volumes about the wine’s richness and elegance of Burgundy wines.

At this estate, organic and biodynamic winemaking practices are followed, to ensure that the wine reflects the true character of the terroirs where they are grown. No synthetic products are used in the vineyards here. Instead, natural predators and herb infusions are used to process the grapes naturally. At the vineyards of this estate, vines are planted densely. Close to 5000 vines are planted per acre, so that the plants get the maximum benefits of each type of soil where they are grown.
