About MadFish

The MadFish wine label was launched by the Burch Family in the year 1992. MadFish Bay, located on the southern coast of Western Australia, is the place where two tides come face to face with each other. The fertility of the soil in this Western Australian zone gave way to this brand and its name as well.

The MadFish wine region consists of two of the most wine-rich areas of Western Australia – Margaret River and Great Southern. The climate, soil quality and overall terroir quality of these places give a distinct aroma, vibrancy and flavour to the fruits grown here.

Margaret River

This is considered as one of the world richest wine regions. It is surrounded by water on three sides, due to which it is blessed with a pleasant Mediterranean climate. The gravelly soil of this place is rich in sandy loam, thereby being highly favourable for producing complex Chardonay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot varietals. MadFish wines are made from grapes sourced from the Leston, Margaret River and Allingham vineyards in this region.

Great Southern

This is the biggest wine-producing area in Australia and it is located at around 450km from Perth. With lots of beaches and bays in its vicinity, this area enjoys a continental climate with warm days and cool nights. Within the same zone, you will be surprised to see diverse types of soil qualities. Thanks to these qualities, this region is great for growing Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals. The vineyards located here are Abercrombie and Mount Barrow.

The MadFish wine label operates with the main aim of making wines for enjoyment. The winemaking philosophy is simple yet effective, thanks to which,  these wines are considered as one of the best and most elegant in the Margaret River wine region.
