Michele Chiarlo Cerequio Barolo DOCG is an exceptional wine that showcases the elegance and complexity of Barolo style. The wine is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the prestigious Cerequio vineyard located in the heart of the Barolo region. It has a ruby color with an intense bouquet of red fruits, flowers, and spices. On the palate, it exhibits a full-bodied flavor with silky tannins and a long finish. The aging process of the wine in oak barrels gives it a superb structure and adds texture to its taste. This is a wine recognized for its true excellence and a must-have for the serious wine connoisseur.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of mature fruits are complemented by hints of wild mint, eucalyptus, herbs and fine spice. Rich on the palate with a tightly woven structure of fine tannins, it shows outstanding elegance and harmony from this truly unique Barolo cru.

About the Winery

Michele Chiarlo

Michele Chiarlo had a passion for winemaking right from a young age, as he, along with his father, realised the huge wine-producing potential of the Piedmont Hills in Italy. He began his own brand in the year 1956 when he was still in his 20s. He aimed to make the best and most respected crus in the entire Piedmont region. His dream came true, when the first cru, released in 1958, impressed everyone who tasted it.

The crus here is very special because the brand ensures that the wines stay true to the quality of the terroir and ecological richness of the place. This group practices integral sustainability in its farms, which means it follows minimal intervention policy to protect the land where the vines are grown. The famous cru regions of this label are:

Cerequio – There are 9 hectares of vineyards here. These are part of the Barolo DOCG. Thanks to their strategic location and microclimate, this place is ideal for growing the native Nebbiolo varietal.

Cannubi – Also part of the Barolo DOCG, Cannubi is the most ancient of all crus. Nebbiolo is grown here.

Asili – This is part of the Barbaresco DOCG. Thanks to its clay and microelements-rich soil, the place is ideal for growing the Nebbiolo varietal.

Faset – Part of the Barbaresco DOCG, Faset cru has vineyards located on a steep mountain. Nebbiolo is grown here in plenty.

La Court – This cru is part of the Nizza DOCG and it one of the newest as well. The elevation of the vines makes it great for growing the Barbera varietal.

Rovereto – This cru is part of the Gavi DOCG. The clay soil, which is rich in iron and the microclimate of this place, makes it ideal for growing the Cortese varietal.

Apart from these, the group also uses grapes grown in vineyards such as La Serra, Montemareto, Nivole, Costa Delle Monache and Ariotta.
