Product Notes

Ocean Eight Verve Chardonnay is a delightful wine that awaits to captivate your senses with its exquisite taste and aroma. This wine is an intricate blend of grapes from the Mornigton Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. The wine has a pale yellow color with aromas of freshly sliced pear, grapefruit, and apple that sit on oak notes. On the palate, the wine’s flavor intensifies with a clean and crisp taste of citrus fruits and minerality that ends up with a long-lasting finish. Overall, it is a well-balanced wine that can be enjoyed on its own or paired with seafood, grilled chicken, or pasta alfredo.

Tasting Notes

The name Verve encapsulates its style, showing distinctive grapefruit and lemon on the nose enhanced by a subtle minerality. The palate almost gives you the illusion of richness due to the intensity of the fruit, then the crisp, dry finish lingers in an everlasting finale.

About the Winery

Ocean Eight

Located on one of Australia’s wine-rich regions, Mornington Peninsula, Ocean Eight is a family-owned wine estate. The Aylward family owns and controls this estate even today. All the wines created under the Ocean Eight brand are made from grapes grown on the 15 hectares of vineyards owned by the Aylward family.

This family had a passion for winemaking and they previously owned a winery at Kooyong. Michael and Hollie Aylward learnt the tricks of the trade from there, and they proceeded to start their own brand in the form of Ocean Eight. Apart from learning the basics at their family’s winery, they also mastered the art of winemaking, thanks to their lessons learnt in one of the world’s premium wine regions of Burgundy in France.

Mornington Peninsula is an area that is blessed with excellent soil quality and cool, maritime climatic conditions. Therefore, the region is ideal for growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. These are the varietals used by Ocean Eight as well, for creating its wines. The grapes have a natural acidity to them, thanks to the cool conditions at this peninsula. Currently, Ocean Eight is regarded as one of the top 10 wines in Australia. Thanks to this honour, these wines are one of the most sought-after wines in restaurants and bars in Australia.

One of the main reasons for the high-quality and authenticity of the Ocean Eight wines is the care that the Aylward family shows in the end-to-end process of winemaking, right from planting the vines till the time of bottling. Though the brand has been making wines in this region for over two decades now, people never get bored of the freshness and intensity of the wines produced under this label. These wines are so popular that they are exported to countries such as the USA and Japan as well.
