Tasting Notes

On the palate, it has excellent volume, firm-but-silky tannins, and a well-integrated acidity, with notes of black fruit combining with a resinous quality. A long and very elegant finish

About the Winery

Porto Ferreira

Known for producing authentic Portuguese wines, Porto Ferreira is a wine label that was established in 1751. Though the company’s founder already had vineyards in the Douro Demarcated region, his grandchildren were the ones who managed to make these wines highly popular. Jose Bernardo and Antonio Bernardo, along with the future generations expanded the company further.

Sogrape Vinhos got a huge fillip in 1987, when it acquired the secular Ferreira Label. Thanks to this acquisition, Sogrape could dominate the Portuguese wine market easily. With Ferreira’s rich heritage and legacy, Sogrape’s portfolio of creating diverse wines improved considerably. Though it has been over 25o years since Ferreira’s birth today, it is still known as the face of the Portuguese wine industry, as it produces authentic and stylish Port wines with utmost grace and elegance.

Some of the popular wines of Porto Ferreira are:

Ferreira White Port Wine – This is a classic wine made from the best white grapes produced in the Douro region. Made from a blend of Malvasia Fina, Codega, Rabigato and Gouveio, this wine is considered the best white wine in Portugal.

Ferreira Dona Antonia Reserva Tawny Port Wine – Known for its rich and ripe flavors, this fortified wine represents the true aromas of wood, where the fruits have been slowly matured for a long time. It is made from a blend of some of the best Portuguese varietals, such as Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Cao and Tinta Amarela.

Ferreira Ruby Port Wine – With its perfect balance of sweetness and tannin texture, this red wine is made from full-bodied and ripe grapes that have been aged quite well. It is a fortified wine made from a blend of Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cao, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Amarela. It is one of the most-loved red wines of the Douro region.
