About Simon Colin

Simon Colin is an illustrious winemaker and merchant who owns a winery of the same name based in the commune or area of Rully in France’s Bordeaux region. Being the descendant and lineage of the famed Chassagne-Montrachet family of Côte-d’Or, Simon got the opportunity to learn about the winemaking art at a relatively young age.

Simon worked under his father, Philippe Colin, and grandfather, Michel Colin, for a significant time after passing out from business school to acquire his skills, improve them, and obtain knowledge. In addition, he trained in the renowned Domaine Étienne Sauzet located in Puligny-Montrachet to gain real-life work experience and confidence. In 2017, Simon Colin decided to establish his winery and wine trading business, aiming to specialise in Burgundy wines. He ventured into his dream using the cellar his father used for 15 years.

Simon Colin’s winemaking endeavours yielded fruit since his winery’s establishment owing to the superior attributes of the two terroirs he owned. They remain located in Côte Chalonnaise and Côte de Beaune, in the north and south, respectively. The plots have chalky, stony, and brown soils. These properties allow the planted grape plants to grow up healthy and strong. It, in turn, enables them to bear rich, plump, and juicy fruits.

Simon Colin always wished to produce and sell distinctive wines that differ from the rest of the drinks made by others in the Colin family. For this reason, he employed organic viticulture methods in his vineyards. In 2024, Domain Simon Colin got its certification owing to the incorporated methods. On top of that, the winery uses biodynamic practices to improve the quality of the vineyards and the wines even more. Such an approach allows Simon Colin to create the modern wines he desires, with them having limited oak influence and high acidity.
