Product Notes

Spice Route The Amos Block Swartland Sauvignon Blanc is a wine that embodies the terroir of the Swartland wine region of South Africa. This wine is made from high-quality grapes that are grown on the Amos Block vineyard, which is known for producing some of the finest Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the region. The wine has a beautiful golden straw color and a fresh aroma of tropical fruits, citrus, and a hint of minerality. On the palate, it is crisp and refreshing with flavors of passionfruit, peach, and lemon, with a long and zesty finish. Spice Route The Amos Block Swartland Sauvignon Blanc is the perfect accompaniment to seafood, salads, and light dishes. Overall, it is a beautifully balanced wine that showcases the best of the Swartland region.

About the Winery

Spice Route

The Spice Route Winery has been named thus because it was established by the Spice Boys in 1997 in South Africa. The winery was a result of many brains in the South African wine market namely Charles Black from Fairview, John Platter (a journalist by profession), Jabulani Ntshangase from Spier and Gyles Webb from Thelema.

What started as a winery in a small tobacco farm in Klein Amoskuil is now quite close to the Fairview farm and attracts the attention of thousands of wine lovers who visit here. It is equipped with all the modern facilities but still follows the ancient winemaking processes. The wines created here are unique because the fruits are thick, creamy and have a ripe tannin finish.

These fruits are grown over 110 hectares of vineyards in Swartland’s Klein Amoskuil farm and benefit from the natural resources that it is blessed with in the form of soil and terroir. While most of the wines come from this farm, some of them are also made from grapes grown in the neighbouring farms as well.

The flagship wine of the Spice Route brand is Malabar, made from select varieties of grapes grown in the best of vineyards. The speciality of this wine is that it truly represents the character of the Swartland region. This blend of wine, after being selected from selected barrels, is again put back in the barrels for maturing until it reaches the bottling stage. This maturing stage may take around 2 years, after which the wine is released into the market.

Terra de Bron is another popular series of wines from this label. These are wines made from grapes grown on carefully selected plots with rocky and granite soil. Only small batches of wines are produced in this range. Currently, Spice Route produces three single varietals each of white and red wines.
