Product Notes

Tenuta delle Terre Nere Feudo di Mezzo Etna Rosso is a remarkable Italian red wine that boasts the perfect balance of complexity, depth and structure. This wine is produced in the hills of Mount Etna, Sicily, which is one of the world's most renowned wine regions. The wine is a blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, which are two local grape varieties that lend the wine its distinctive notes of dark fruit, red berry, spice and minerality. The wine is aged in French oak casks for 16 months, which further develops its complexity and intensity. This wine is an excellent choice for wine connoisseurs who appreciate the nuances of Italian wines.

Tasting Notes

Colour- pale ruby. Nose- elegant, complex, with red fruits and cherry notes. Flavour- harmonic, with a good acidity and persistence, soft and silky tannins

About the Winery

Tenuta delle Terre Nere

Located near Mount Etna, Tenuta delle Terre Nere is one of the best wine producers in Italy. The winery was a project and endeavour of Marco De Grazia. Marco had always remained involved in the world of wines since his early years. Many people consider him to be the person who put the region of Etna on the winemakers’ map, attracting worldwide fame and recognition. Additionally, he served as the driving force that convinced the Italian wine industry of the significance of establishing Contrada in their producing areas.

Marco was initially an exporter and consultant of Italian wine. However, after extensive travelling, he decided to stop and turn his curiosity and interest into reality by producing his unique line of wines. This choice implied that Marco wished to pursue his dream and passion and find the correct place to plant his roots. For this purpose, he chose the challenging area of Mount Etna instead of the already-established locations. Marco began to exert and implement his efforts, time, and energy in 2002. Today, no reputable wine producer exists who does not know of his name and his wine brand.

The soil in the region results from the endless variations caused by several thousand years of volcanic eruptions. Nonetheless, the one in the vineyards of Tenuta delle Terre Nere is primarily a volcanic ash type that has speckles of black pumice and small pieces of volcanic rocks.

The weather in the place has the perfect balance of altitude, air currents, and sun exposure. It allows the vineyards to experience the drying and cooling effects generated by the winds. This factor proves beneficial in Tenuta delle Terre Nere because of their harvest season. It is because the grapes get to their “fragile” state and become susceptible to mildew and oidium during that time.
