Product Notes

TWR - Te Whare Ra Pinot Noir is a premium quality Pinot Noir produced in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. Made from handpicked grapes, this wine features a deep garnet color and a complex aroma filled with dark cherries, black currants, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it delivers a rich and elegant taste of ripe fruit flavors intertwined with fine tannins and a subtle mineral finish. This wine is a perfect match for grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or a soft-cheese platter. Aged in French oak barrels, TWR - Te Whare Ra Pinot Noir offers a long-lasting and memorable taste that any wine connoisseur will appreciate.

Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir exhibits gorgeous, fragrant notes of ripe strawberry and omega plum with hints of baking spice, mocha, and some complex savoury undertones. The fleshy, silky tannins combine with vibrant flavours of omega plum and strawberry. The palate has serious weight and flows from fruit purity into more savoury and complex flavours. The wine has great fleshiness and depth and finishes with a lingering persistence of fruit, fine tannin and well integrated oak. Bottled un-fined and with minimal filtration.

About the Winery

TWR - Te Whare Ra

The Marlborough region in New Zealand is considered a premium wine-growing region in New Zealand. Wines created here have earned a lot of international acclaim within a very short while due to the unique flavour and texture. The rich terroirs of this region lend a distinct character to these wines. TWR, or the Te Whare  Ra, a small winery located in Renwick, in the exotic Marlborough region, is known for its authentic and organic wines, created in the most biodynamic way possible.

The vineyard stretches across 11 hectares, and the first vines were planted here in 1979.  Covered with a rich layer of clay soils, this winery is owned by experienced winemakers, Anna & Jason Flowerday. At the vineyards, great care is given to the soils. The team manually picks and sorts the grapes according to the terroirs of cultivation. This is the main reason why the wines created here are true representations of the quality of soil found here.

Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Syrah and a unique blend known as Toru are the varietals cultivated here.  A few years ago, this winery was certified as an organic vineyard. Minimal intervention is the key principle followed while making wines at TWR. You can find a lot of good dirt on the soils here, which helps create well-balanced fruits.

The TWR winery may not look very stylish or modern externally, but it is appropriately designed to process a small batch of grapes. This winery has a cold room, where the grapes are chilled for the right time before proceeding to the next stages of processing. You can find many tanks inside the winery. This helps in processing the grapes separately according to the parcel of cultivation and age of the vine. Natural gravity is used for moving the grapes to the open vats, where they are then fermented.
