Product Notes

Antinori Tenuta Guado Al Tasso Matarocchio is a remarkable red wine blend that represents the epitome of excellence from the Guado al Tasso estate. This wine is crafted using the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the Matarocchio vineyard, which is renowned for producing some of the richest and most concentrated grapes in Tuscany. The wine is characterized by its deep ruby color and intense aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with firm tannins and a silky texture, revealing complex flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, and tobacco. The finish is long and persistent, leaving behind a pleasant mineral and spicy aftertaste. Antinori Tenuta Guado Al Tasso Matarocchio is a superb wine that embodies the winery's commitment to excellence, precision, and tradition.

Tasting Notes

Matarocchio 2016 shows a great aromatic complexity with notes of dark berry fruit which alternate with sensations of powdered chocolate, exotic spices, and toasted coffee. The palate is an enveloping one, rich, one of excellent tension and of long persistence on the finish and aftertaste.

About the Winery

Antinori Tenuta Guado Al Tasso

The Antinori family is one of the most authentic and historical names of the Italian wine industry. This family has been making elegant and heritage-rich wines for over six centuries now. Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild in 1385, and his family has been making beautiful wines, since then. Today, though the estate is managed by the 26th generation Antinori family member, you will be thrilled to notice that the historic winemaking practices are carried on with full respect and passion here.

The details of the family vineyards are as follows:

Tenuta Tignanello – 130 hectares are under the vine here. You can find two of the finest parcels of vineyards, Tignanello and Solaia here. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc, and small lots of Malvasia & Trebbiano are grown here.

Badia A Passignano – 65 hectares are under the vine here. Vineyards are located at a height of 250 to 350m above sea level with Sangiovese vines, mostly.

Peppoli – 50 hectares are under the vine here. You can find big parcels of Sangiovese vines and small lots of Merlot, Syrah and Malvasia in this microclimate-filled region.

Antinori in the Chianti Classico – A new and sophisticated winery, constructed using the local materials, was established in this estate during 2012. Apart from Sangiovese, small parcels of indigenous grapes, such as Canaiolo, Colorino, Malvasia Nera and Mammolo are found here.

Pian Delle Vigne - 65 hectares are under the vine here. A traditional wine, Brunello di Montalcino, has its origins from here.

Guado Al Tasso Estate – Located in Bolgheri DOC, this vineyard is home to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Vermentino, Nero and Bianco vines.

Castle of the Hall – Located in Umbria; Procanico, Grechetto, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Pinot Blanc and Viognier varietals

Marchese Antinori – Montenisa Estate – Located in Franciacorta; Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc varietals

Villa Antinori – Located in Tuscany
