Product Notes

Cellier des Princes Côtes du Rhône Les Vignes du Prince is a delightful and refreshing red wine hailing from the famous Rhône Valley region of France. Blended from several grape varieties, the wine boasts a deep, ruby color and a complex aroma of dark fruits and spices with hints of black cherry and plum. On the palate, it has a rich and velvety texture and flavors of blackberry, blackcurrant, and a hint of licorice, culminating in a long and satisfying finish. This wine pairs perfectly with red meats, stews, and hearty dishes. Overall, it is a wonderful wine that showcases the quality of the region.

Tasting Notes

Full of juicy red-berried fruit interwoven with typical warm and savoury flavours from the Southern Rhône. Smooth and easy drinking with a supple structure, light tannins and a fruity finish.

About the Winery

Cellier des Princes

Established in 1925, Cellier des Princes is the only cooperative cellar in the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation. Located in the Rhone wine region towards the southeastern part of France, the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation is located right in between two prestigious cities of Orange and Avigno. The history of this place and the excellence of terroirs have made this appellation not only one of the best in France, but in the world as well.

In 1960, the winemaking facility of Cellier des Princes was established in Courthezon village. With its modern facilities and strategic location, this facility plays a vital role in the popularity of the wines created here. A few years back, the team at Cellier des Princes welcomed the professional and award-winning winemaker, Robert Parker, into their fold.

Why are the wines from Cellier des Princes unique and rich? It is because of the distinct soil quality of this place. The round pebbles, known as galets roules, stores water and heat during the day and release them during the night. This contributes to the natural and optimal ripeness of the fruits grown here. Cellier des Princes has their presence in the easternmost part of the appellation. Sandy soils and round pebbles dominate this region. These vineyards stretch across the Courthezon village mostly, while a small part extends to the villages of Bedarrides and Sorgues villages as well.

Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre are the three main grape varietals used for making the Cellier des Princes wines. Of the three, Grenache is the most widely used varietal. You will never get to see Grenaches as round and elegant anywhere else in France. The rich strawberry flavours found in Grenaches grown here cannot be missed. Syrah, on the other hand, is fresh and acidic. Floral notes, especially, those of violet flowers, are distinct features of this varietal. Mourvedres grown here is known for their good structure and balance.
