00 Wines

Founded in 2015 by Chris Hermann and his late father, Dr. Richard Hermann, 00 Wines is a family-owned estate dedicated to crafting exceptional wines in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. While Pinot Noir remains an important part of the portfolio, Chardonnay is the winery’s primary focus. Fruit is sourced from carefully selected small vineyard parcels across the valley, providing access to some of the region’s oldest vines, many between 50 and 60 years old.

The wines are produced at the 00 Wines facility in Carlton, with a philosophy inspired by biodynamic principles. A distinctive feature of the winery’s approach is its innovative “Black Chardonnay” technique, which involves fully oxidising the grape must and extracting significant levels of phenolics. This method results in Chardonnays of remarkable texture, structure and complexity.

Chris Hermann, a lawyer with more than four decades of experience advising leading wine businesses in the United States and abroad, transformed his professional expertise into a passion for winemaking. He leads the winery alongside his wife, Kathryn Hermann, and winemaker Maxence Lecat.

Kathryn brings a background in marketing, project management and software development, overseeing the winery’s creative direction, packaging design and communications. Winemaking is led by Maxence Lecat, who manages operations in both Oregon and Burgundy and regularly travels between Burgundy, Baden and Oregon, bringing an international perspective to the wines.
