About Albert Bichot

With nearly two centuries of history and vineyards stretching from Chablis to Beaujolais, Albert Bichot is one of Burgundy’s most established family-owned wine houses. Based in Beaune, the company combines the traditional role of a Burgundian négociant with an extensive portfolio of its own domaines, giving it an unusually broad perspective on the region’s diverse terroirs.

The Bichot family has been established in Burgundy since 1350, although its wine story officially began in 1831 when Bernard Bichot founded a wine merchant business in Monthélie. His son Hippolyte subsequently purchased the family’s first vineyards in Volnay, while Albert Bichot moved the company permanently to Beaune in 1912. Today the independent house remains under family ownership and is managed by sixth-generation Albéric Bichot, who joined the business in the early 1990s and took over its direction in 1996.

Albert Bichot now owns 107 hectares across six domaines: Domaine Long-Depaquit in Chablis, Domaine du Clos Frantin and Château-Gris in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine du Pavillon in Pommard, Domaine Adélie in Mercurey and Domaine de Rochegrès in Moulin-à-Vent. Four of these estates are certified organic.

The portfolio encompasses an exceptional range of Burgundy, from regional Bourgogne Chardonnay and Pinot Noir through prestigious Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru appellations. Alongside estate-grown fruit, Albert Bichot works with long-standing partner growers, applying the same rigorous approach to purchased grapes. Winemaking is deliberately restrained, with each estate maintaining its own winery and dedicated team. The emphasis throughout is on purity, elegance and transparent expression of Burgundy’s individual vineyards and terroirs.
