Product Notes

Bodegas Castaño Solanera Viñas Viejas is a red wine produced by Bodegas Castaño in the Yecla region of Spain. It is made from 70% Monastrell, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Garnacha Tintorera grapes, which are sourced from old, low-yielding vines. The wine is aged for 10 months in French and American oak barrels, resulting in a deep, dark ruby color with aromas of black fruit, licorice, and spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich with flavors of blackberries, plums, and chocolate, with a long, smooth finish with well-integrated tannins. This wine pairs well with grilled meats, hearty stews, and bold cheeses.

About the Winery

Bodegas Castaño

The history of Bodegas Castano Wines dates back to as early as 1950 when Ramon Castano Santa had set up his own winery and was on the lookout for expansion of the same. In the year 1975, he acquired Las Gruesas, one of the iconic plots of the Castano Wine Group today. In the year 1980s, Castano expanded further by acquiring a bottling unit and that was the time he was quite actively thinking about expansion and development.
