About Bodegas Frontonio

Bodegas Frontonio is a boutique winery in Aragón, Spain, founded in 2008 by three friends: Fernando Mora MW, winemaker Mario López, and lawyer Francisco Latasa. Named after Saint Frontonio, the patron saint of Zaragoza, the project was born from a shared dream to rescue abandoned vineyards and showcase the hidden potential of the Valdejalón region.

The estate now farms around 60 hectares of old bush vines, many of them over 100 years old, spread across a patchwork of soils ranging from clay and limestone to slate and even volcanic rock. High altitudes – some vineyards sit above 1,000 metres – and dry-farming give the wines remarkable freshness and intensity. In 2017 the team restored a 200-year-old house with underground caves, now the winery’s home. These three levels, naturally cool and humid, allow them to work by gravity and age wines in concrete, oak and foudre in perfect conditions.

Frontonio’s style is rooted in minimal intervention: hand-harvesting, wild fermentations, gentle extraction, and organic farming, now fully certified. Their wines range from the approachable Botijo collection – bright, juicy Garnacha and Garnacha Blanca – to complex single-parcel bottlings that highlight Aragón’s heritage vines. Expressive, honest, and full of character, Frontonio has quickly become one of Spain’s most exciting modern wineries.
