Tasting Note

The 2019 Fijnbosch Chardonnay opens with aromas of lemon posset and gunflint. Bright and full on the palate, this wine boasts peach and lime zest notes complemented by crushed oyster shell minerality and salinity.

Product Notes

Capensis Fijnbosch Chardonnay is a premium South African wine that captures the essence of the unique Fijnbosch terroir. Grown in the Cape Winelands, the Chardonnay grapes benefit from the region's cool climate and mineral-rich soils, resulting in a beautifully balanced and elegant wine. This Chardonnay boasts a pale straw color and aromas of citrus, orchard fruits, and a hint of toasted oak. On the palate, flavors of ripe peach, lemon zest, and vanilla mingle with a crisp acidity and a long, lingering finish. This wine pairs perfectly with seafood, poultry, and creamy pasta dishes. Experience the beauty of South African winemaking with Capensis Fijnbosch Chardonnay.

About the Winery

Capensis

Capensis, meaning “from the Cape” in Latin, is a boutique South African winery dedicated exclusively to Chardonnay. Established in 2013 by Barbara Banke of Jackson Family Wines in partnership with the late Graham Beck’s estate, Capensis set out to showcase the world-class potential of Chardonnay from the Western Cape. The heart of the operation is the high-altitude Fijnbosch vineyard in the Banghoek Valley of Stellenbosch, where 8 hectares of vines grow on steep, well-drained clay soils.
