About Château de Pitray
Château de Pitray is a historic Bordeaux estate located in the Côtes de Castillon appellation, just east of Saint-Émilion. The château has been in the hands of the same family for over six centuries, making it one of the region’s longest continuously owned wine estates. The property is currently managed by the Comtesse de Boigne and her family, descendants of the original owners, who continue to uphold its deep-rooted traditions while embracing modern viticultural practices.
The château itself, an elegant 17th-century building surrounded by rolling vineyards and woodland, sits atop a limestone plateau that provides ideal conditions for Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon—the classic Bordeaux varieties that form the backbone of Château de Pitray’s wines. The estate spans roughly 60 hectares of vines, cultivated sustainably to preserve both soil health and the authenticity of the terroir.
Château de Pitray produces wines known for their balance, depth, and expression of place—combining the charm of the Right Bank’s fruit-forward style with the structure and minerality typical of Castillon’s limestone soils. Under thoughtful family stewardship and guided by a philosophy of quality and consistency, Château de Pitray continues to represent the enduring heritage and quiet excellence of traditional Bordeaux winemaking.
