Tasting Note

NOSE - Blueberry, sage and cedar accentuate the opulence of the vintage before yielding to spicy black pepper and dried cherry. It’s an incredibly interesting contrast that’s easily identifiable now but will mellow in time. PALATE - There’s an abundance of purity and freshness as the palate leans toward cool character with layer after layer of raspberry jam, cocoa, strawberry and clove. While not overly coarse, the tannins are persistent and mouthcoating, a perfect balance to the laser-focused seam of acidity that slowly yields to the stony minerality that’s typical of wine from the Estate FINISH - Polished and persistent, the finish transitions from mineral to cassis and then glides through ripe plum adorned with allspice and espresso. Delicate notes of vanilla and mint slowly come into focus leaving an extraordinarily complex and delicious experience to behold.

Product Notes

Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a premium wine made from the best quality grapes grown in the vineyards of Napa Valley. The wine displays a rich ruby color and has aromas that are reminiscent of dark cherry, blackberry, and cassis with hints of vanilla and oak. The complex flavors of the wine are intense and linger long after the last sip. The core flavor of the wine includes dark fruit, chocolate, and espresso. The wine has a robust tannin structure, which gives it a long life and a full-bodied texture. This wine pairs well with heavy meals, strong cheeses, and rich desserts.

About the Winery

Chateau Montelena

Chateau Montelena, the Napa Valley Winery, was established by Alfred Tubbs in the year 1882. He started planting vines in the empty plots nearby his locality and within a decade, the Chateau Montelena Wines became the 7th biggest winery in the entire area of Napa Valley. This winery came into prominence when the Chardonnay white wines crafted here went on to win the very reputed “Judgement of Paris” wine competition.
