About Château Potensac

Château Potensac is a respected Bordeaux estate located in the Médoc region of France, just north of Saint-Estèphe. It lies in the commune of Ordonnac, on gravelly and clay-limestone soils ideal for growing high-quality grapes. Though not classified in the 1855 Médoc classification, Château Potensac holds a strong reputation and was awarded Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel status in the 2003 classification.

The estate is owned by the Delon family, who also own the prestigious Château Léoville Las Cases in Saint-Julien and Château Nénin in Pomerol. The Delon family has managed Potensac with the same meticulous care and traditional Bordeaux practices used at their more prominent estates.

The winemaking is overseen by the Domaines Delon team, with Pierre Graffeuille playing a key role in estate management and strategy. The wine is typically a blend dominated by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, although Potensac is one of the few Médoc estates where Merlot plays a significant role due to the cooler clay soils.

Château Potensac is known for its classic Médoc structure, freshness, and aging potential, often outperforming its classification. It offers exceptional value and reliability, making it a favorite among Bordeaux enthusiasts.
