Cuentaviñas

Cuentaviñas is a boutique winery in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Rioja, founded in 2018 by Eduardo Eguren, a fifth-generation winemaker from the renowned Eguren family. After inheriting three exceptional vineyards from his maternal grandfather, Eduardo embarked on this personal project to explore the unique terroirs of the Sonsierra region.

The name "Cuentaviñas" translates to "vineyard-teller," reflecting Eduardo's philosophy of storytelling through wine. The estate encompasses vineyards such as El Hoyo, planted in 1923, Los Yelsones, planted in 1970, and Alomado, also from 1970. These vineyards are characterized by their high-altitude locations, limestone-rich soils, and Atlantic-influenced climate, contributing to the distinctiveness of the wines.

Cuentaviñas produces small-lot, single-vineyard wines that emphasize purity, elegance, and terroir expression. The winery employs organic viticulture practices, including hand harvesting and traditional winemaking techniques. Notable wines include El Tiznado, a powerful Tempranillo from El Hoyo, and Los Yelsones, a vibrant red showcasing the freshness of the region. Through meticulous craftsmanship, Cuentaviñas offers wines that narrate the story of Rioja's exceptional terroirs.
