About Domaine Moreau-Naudet

Domaine Moreau-Naudet is a standout family estate in the heart of Chablis, northern Burgundy, France – that cool, limestone-rich corner famous for razor-sharp Chardonnay whites.

The domaine's story took a heartbreaking turn in 2016 when the brilliant winemaker Stéphane Moreau died suddenly just before harvest, at only 47. He'd transformed the place from humble beginnings (the name dates to a 1950 marriage joining the Moreau and Naudet families) into one of Chablis' cult favorites, inspired by legends like Vincent Dauvissat. Since then, his wife Virginie Moreau (often called Mimi) has bravely stepped up, running the estate with the same uncompromising vision – organic farming, hand-harvesting ripe fruit, and zero shortcuts.

Today it's still very much her show, helped by a small team and now even her daughter joining in.

They farm about 25-26 hectares around the town of Chablis itself and villages like Préhy and Courgis, all on classic Kimmeridgian soils that scream minerality.

The wines are 100% Chardonnay, fermented with native yeasts and aged long (18-24 months) on lees for texture without heaviness – village wines mostly in steel or minimal oak, premiers and the grand cru getting a gentle kiss of older barrels.

The lineup is pure Chablis magic: crisp Petit Chablis to start, a benchmark village Chablis (often punchy and generous), old-vine gems like the sandy-soil Pargues, then knockout 1ers – Vaillons (fleshy), Forêts (intense, high-altitude), Montmains (elegant), Montée de Tonnerre (mineral-driven stunner), and a tiny parcel of Grand Cru Valmur for the top bottling.

These are textured, vibrant wines that fans compare to Raveneau or Dauvissat but at (slightly) more human prices – precise, age-worthy expressions of terroir that keep getting better under Virginie's steady hand.
