Domaine Robert-Denogent

Among the benchmark estates of the southern Mâconnais, Domaine Robert-Denogent has built its reputation on exceptional old vines, individual vineyard expressions and a distinctly hands-off approach to winemaking. Based in Fuissé, at the heart of Pouilly-Fuissé, this family domaine traces its history to the 19th century and today produces some of the region’s most characterful and sought-after Chardonnays.

Jean-Jacques Robert took charge of the family property in the late 1980s, developing a philosophy centred on old vines and individual terroirs. He was subsequently joined by his sons, Nicolas and Antoine, who have brought a new generation to the estate while maintaining its traditional, low-intervention approach.

The domaine farms vineyards principally around Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly and Vergisson, including important holdings in Pouilly-Fuissé and Saint-Véran. Many vines are exceptionally old, with certain parcels approaching or exceeding a century in age. Naturally low yields provide concentration while preserving the freshness and mineral definition associated with the Mâconnais’ limestone-rich soils.

Robert-Denogent is particularly celebrated for its parcel-specific Pouilly-Fuissé bottlings, including wines from Les Cras, La Croix and Les Reisses. The family also produces Saint-Véran and Mâcon, treating each vineyard as an individual expression of its origins.

Vineyards are worked with minimal intervention and an emphasis on organic and biodynamic principles. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermentations rely on indigenous yeasts, and the wines undergo extended maturation, predominantly in oak barrels.

The resulting wines combine richness and texture with vibrant acidity, mineral tension and remarkable depth, demonstrating both the distinctive character and impressive ageing potential of the finest Mâconnais terroirs.
