About Flora Springs
Founded in 1978, Flora Springs is one of Napa Valley’s historic modern-era wineries, combining a pioneering family legacy with a new chapter under two of California’s best-known wine personalities. Located in St. Helena, the winery built its reputation on expressive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and innovative Bordeaux-style blends.
The story began in 1977 when Jerry and Flora Komes purchased a neglected St. Helena property as a retirement project. The estate already possessed considerable wine history: vines had been planted there in the late 19th century and an original stone winery was constructed in 1885. Their children, John Komes and Julie Garvey, together with their spouses, recognised its potential and founded Flora Springs the following year, naming it after Flora and the natural springs running through the property.
A major milestone arrived in 1984 with Trilogy, one of Napa Valley’s early proprietary Bordeaux-style red blends and still the winery’s flagship. Flora Springs subsequently became particularly associated with Cabernet Sauvignon while also producing Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and other varieties.
In December 2024, the Komes-Garvey family sold the Flora Springs winery, brand and St. Helena tasting room to Gina Gallo-Boisset and Jean-Charles Boisset, marking their first winery acquisition together. Gina Gallo-Boisset now brings decades of winemaking experience to the estate, while Jean-Charles is known for leading the Boisset Collection.
Today the portfolio combines established Flora Springs traditions with a new creative direction. Alongside Trilogy, wines include Cabernet Sauvignon and increasingly diverse limited-production bottlings. The house style retains its Napa identity—ripe, polished fruit balanced by structure and freshness—while the new ownership is building on nearly five decades of Flora Springs heritage.
