Fortunate Son

Fortunate Son is the visionary project of acclaimed Napa Valley winemaker Jayson Woodbridge, best known as the founder of Hundred Acre. While the label was first conceived in 2006, it was re-launched in 2018 as Woodbridge’s personal pursuit to showcase the character of Napa Valley’s smaller, heritage vineyard sites.

The winery is based at the historic David Fulton estate in St. Helena, giving Fortunate Son a home of deep Napa roots. The project is built around a three-part foundation: the winery itself on Fulton Lane, carefully chosen family vineyard parcels throughout the valley, and a future estate, True Romance, scheduled to open in 2027.

Fortunate Son’s portfolio is anchored by three wines. The Warrior is a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon of striking depth and power. The Dreamer highlights Cabernet from multiple mature parcels, offering elegance and complexity. The Diplomat blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petite Sirah into a richly textured, approachable wine.

Every stage of winemaking is guided by precision—selective hand harvesting, fermentations tailored to each vineyard block, and élevage in custom French oak barrels. The results are wines of intensity, refinement, and longevity, capturing both Napa Valley’s history and Woodbridge’s uncompromising artistry.
