About Kaesler

Kaesler Wines is a renowned Barossa Valley estate celebrated for its rich heritage and exceptional old-vine Shiraz. Located near Nuriootpa in South Australia’s most iconic wine region, the winery traces its origins back to 1893, when the Kaesler family—early German settlers—planted their first vineyards on the property. Many of these original vines still produce fruit today, forming the foundation for some of Kaesler’s most acclaimed wines.

The modern era of Kaesler began in 1999, when winemaker Reid Bosward and a group of investors purchased the estate, revitalizing the vineyards and reaffirming its commitment to quality. Under Bosward’s leadership, Kaesler has become synonymous with bold, expressive wines that capture the power and intensity of the Barossa’s old vines while maintaining balance and finesse.

Kaesler’s portfolio centers around Shiraz, particularly the flagship “Old Bastard” Shiraz, made from vines over 120 years old. Other notable wines include the “Old Vine” and “Bogan” Shiraz, along with robust Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon. All are crafted from estate-grown fruit, showcasing deep concentration, fine tannins, and remarkable aging potential. With its combination of heritage vineyards, meticulous craftsmanship, and modern vision, Kaesler stands as a benchmark producer in the Barossa Valley’s storied landscape.
