Kyperounda Winery

Kyperounda Winery is one of Cyprus’s most distinctive and high-altitude wineries, located in the village of Kyperounda in the Pitsilia region of the Troodos Mountains. Situated around 1,200 metres above sea level, it is recognised as Europe’s highest winery and one of the highest in the world. The elevated vineyards benefit from cooler temperatures and slow grape ripening, helping produce wines with freshness, concentration and distinctive character.

The winery was established in 1998 by a group of local grape growers who wanted to realise the wine-growing potential of the mountainous region. In 2000, the Photos Photiades Group became a major shareholder, and today the group controls and manages the winery alongside more than 40 shareholders.

A purpose-built winery was constructed between 2002 and 2005, using a three-level gravity-flow design to handle grapes and juice gently. Today, Kyperounda produces more than 300,000 bottles annually, combining indigenous Cypriot varieties with international grapes and a strong focus on quality and terroir.
