About Laurent Tribut
It all started when Laurent Tribut married Marie-Clotilde Dauvissat, sister of the famous Vincent Dauvissat and daughter of René. Years earlier, the savvy Dauvissat family had snapped up some killer village-level parcels right next to their own premier crus, specifically so their kids could have a shot at becoming vignerons without fighting over the main estate. Marie-Clotilde and Laurent grabbed that gift with both hands and launched their own tiny domaine in the late 1980s, vinifying the first vintages right in the Dauvissat cellar under René’s watchful eye.
For years the wines were basically Dauvissat clones – same hand-picking, same old-school methods, same razor-sharp minerality. Eventually Laurent built his own cellar in the sleepy hamlet of Poinchy, just a couple of kilometres north of Chablis town itself, on classic Kimmeridgian limestone that screams seashells and flint.
Laurent officially retired a few years back, and the domaine (still around 7-8 hectares) is now run by three of their children – Solange (who’s very much the face and winemaker now), Adéline, and Gabriel – with the same uncompromising, traditional style that made the wines famous in the first place.
