About Milsetentayseis
Milsetentayseis is a remarkable winery project in Spain’s Ribera del Duero, created under the Alma Carraovejas group. Based in the remote village of Fuentenebro in Burgos, its name—“1076”—reflects the altitude in meters where many of its vineyards are planted, making them among the highest in the region. These extreme conditions, combined with ancient, fragmented soils rich in quartz, mica, and red clays, give the wines a distinctive freshness, minerality, and elegance.
The project is led by winemaker Patricia Benítez, whose experience with some of Ribera’s most prestigious estates ensures a precise, terroir-driven approach. Grapes from old vines are carefully hand-harvested and sorted before fermentation in a variety of vessels, including oak vats, concrete tanks, clay amphorae, and small steel fermenters. This artisanal method allows each plot’s character to shine through. Aging takes place in French oak barrels and foudres, followed by additional time in bottle to refine balance and complexity.
Today, Milsetentayseis produces wines that are both powerful and refined, capturing the soul of high-altitude Ribera del Duero. With its focus on tradition, innovation, and respect for nature, the estate has quickly earned a reputaion as one of the most exciting new voices in Spanish winemaking, producing wines of true distincion.
