About Oremus
Oremus is one of Hungary’s most prestigious wineries, located in the heart of the Tokaj region. Founded in 1993, it is owned by the renowned Spanish wine estate Vega Sicilia, led by the Álvarez family. This partnership brought together Spanish expertise and Tokaj’s ancient winemaking heritage, helping to elevate the international profile of Hungarian wines.
The estate spans around 100 hectares, planted with traditional Tokaj varieties like Furmint, Hárslevelű, Sárgamuskotály, and Zéta. Oremus is known for both its dry wines—like the barrel-aged Mandolás Furmint—and for classic Tokaji sweet wines such as Late Harvest, Szamorodni, 5 and 6 Puttonyos Aszú, and the rare, nectar-like Eszencia.
András Bacsó was the estate’s longtime winemaker and a key figure in its development until 2021, when he was succeeded by Róbert Kindl, who continues the estate’s commitment to sustainability and quality. Oremus ages its wines in centuries-old cellars carved into volcanic rock, part of the UNESCO-listed Tokaj region.
Combining tradition, innovation, and respect for terroir, Oremus plays a vital role in Tokaj’s modern renaissance, producing wines that are both deeply rooted in history and globally celebrated.
