About Produttori Di Manduria
Founded in 1932, Produttori di Manduria is one of Puglia’s most historic wine cooperatives and a leading champion of Primitivo, the grape that has become synonymous with the town of Manduria in southern Italy. Located in the heart of the Salento peninsula, the winery brings together generations of local winegrowing families, united by a commitment to preserving the region’s viticultural heritage and producing wines that authentically reflect their origins.
The cooperative’s vineyards benefit from a classic Mediterranean climate, with abundant sunshine, cooling sea breezes and distinctive red, iron-rich soils over limestone. These conditions are particularly well suited to Primitivo, producing grapes with exceptional ripeness, concentration and character. Many vineyards feature traditional bush-trained vines, known locally as alberello, including precious old vines that yield small quantities of intensely flavoured fruit.
Today, Produttori di Manduria represents around 400 growers cultivating approximately 1,000 hectares of vineyards. Its philosophy combines traditional vineyard management with modern winemaking techniques, placing particular emphasis on quality, sustainability and the protection of local grape varieties.
The winery’s impressive portfolio showcases Primitivo in several styles, from the approachable, fruit-driven Lirica and Memoria to the more structured Elegia and Sonetto Riserva. Madrigale, a Primitivo di Manduria Dolce Naturale DOCG, demonstrates the grape’s ability to produce richly concentrated sweet wines. The range also includes Negroamaro, Fiano, Verdeca and elegant rosés.
With more than nine decades of experience, Produttori di Manduria continues to celebrate the character of Puglia, combining regional authenticity, craftsmanship and a forward-looking approach to winemaking.
