Rafael Palacios

Rafael Palacios is a boutique winery located in Valdeorras, Galicia, in north-west Spain, an area known for its rugged landscape and granite-rich soils. The winery is owned and run by Rafael Palacios, the youngest son of José Palacios Remondo and brother of renowned winemaker Álvaro Palacios. Founded in 2004, the project was born from Rafael’s desire to focus exclusively on white wines and to unlock the potential of the native Godello grape.

He established the winery in the remote Val do Bibei, within the municipality of O Bolo, working with steep, high-altitude vineyards between 600 and 740 metres above sea level. Many of these plots were old or abandoned vineyards, which Palacios restored by hand due to the extreme terrain. From the outset, the philosophy has centred on low yields, meticulous vineyard work, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Rafael Palacios has played a key role in redefining Valdeorras as one of Spain’s leading regions for world-class white wines.
