About Seghesio
Seghesio has been a cornerstone of Sonoma County winemaking since 1895, when Italian immigrant Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vines at the estate’s Home Ranch vineyard in Alexander Valley. The family remained committed to grape growing throughout Prohibition, becoming the only local winery to survive the era. Since 2011, Seghesio has been part of Crimson Wine Group, while continuing to honour its family heritage through a focus on estate vineyards and sustainable farming.
Today, viticulture is led by sixth-generation family member Ned Neumiller, who has transformed the estate through regenerative farming. Across 120 hectares in Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley and other premium Sonoma sites, pesticides and herbicides have been eliminated in favour of compost teas and carefully managed cover crops that promote healthy, balanced vineyards. Winemaker Andy Robinson, a long-time member of the cellar team, crafts the wines with support from renowned Italian consultant Alberto Antonini, whose influence is reflected in Seghesio’s fresh, vibrant and approachable style.
Best known for Zinfandel, Seghesio produces a range of distinctive wines, from the balanced Sonoma Zinfandel and concentrated Old Vine bottling to the elegant Cortina Zinfandel. The flagship Home Ranch Zinfandel, sourced from Edoardo’s original 1895 vineyard, remains one of California’s most celebrated expressions of the variety.
