About Sella & Mosca

Sella & Mosca is one of Sardinia’s most historic and influential wine estates, located near Alghero on the island’s northwestern coast. Founded in 1899 by Piedmontese entrepreneurs Erminio Sella and Edgardo Mosca, the estate was established on reclaimed land, transforming a once-marshy area into one of Europe’s largest contiguous vineyards.

Today, Sella & Mosca manages hundreds of hectares of vines, benefiting from Sardinia’s warm Mediterranean climate, coastal breezes, and diverse soils. These conditions are particularly well suited to indigenous grape varieties such as Cannonau, Carignano, and Vermentino, alongside the rare Torbato, which the winery has played a key role in preserving and promoting.

The winery’s portfolio ranges from fresh, aromatic whites to structured reds and traditional-method sparkling wines. Cannonau-based reds are typically robust and sun-ripened, while Vermentino wines express freshness and minerality reflective of the coastal terroir. Torbato, a distinctive local variety, produces elegant, lightly aromatic wines and is a hallmark of the estate.

Combining over a century of heritage with modern viticulture and winemaking, Sella & Mosca remains a benchmark producer in Sardinia, widely recognized for both quality and scale.
