Stargazer

Stargazer is the celebrated solo project of Samantha Connew, one of Australia’s most respected winemakers and a trailblazer for women in the industry. After a decade as Senior Winemaker at McLaren Vale’s Wirra Wirra and a tenure as the first female Chair of Judges at the Sydney Royal Wine Show, Connew launched Stargazer in 2012 to focus on the cool-climate varieties she loves.

The heart of the estate is the Palisander Vineyard, an 11-hectare property acquired in 2016 in the Tea Tree subregion of the Coal River Valley, just north of Hobart. The site is characterized by dark clay over Jurassic dolerite soils, which provide the wines with distinctive structure and "stony" mineral nuances.

Stargazer is renowned for high-tension, artisanal wines crafted with minimal intervention and wild ferments.
