About Susana Balbo

Founded in 1999 by Susana Balbo, Argentina’s first female winemaker, Susana Balbo Wines has become one of the country’s most respected family-owned wineries. After more than two decades of consulting for prestigious wineries across Argentina and internationally, Balbo established her own estate in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, at the foothills of the Andes in Mendoza. The winery was built around her vision of producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that combine innovation with a deep respect for Argentina’s diverse vineyard sites. Today, the business remains family-owned, with Susana’s children, José Lovaglio Balbo and Ana Lovaglio, playing key roles in winemaking, innovation and marketing, ensuring continuity into the next generation.

The winery sources fruit from estate vineyards in Agrelo and Gualtallary, as well as carefully selected sites across Mendoza and Salta. This diversity allows the production of wines that express both high-altitude freshness and regional character. While Malbec remains a cornerstone of the range, Susana Balbo is internationally renowned for elevating Torrontés to world-class status, earning Balbo the title “Queen of Torrontés.” The portfolio includes the Crios, BenMarco, Susana Balbo Signature and flagship Nosotros collections, featuring varieties such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and Torrontés. Produced using sustainable viticulture and modern winemaking techniques, the wines are recognised for their purity, balance and precision, and are exported to more than 40 countries worldwide.
