About Tenuta Pfitscher
Tenuta Pfitscher is a family-owned winery located in the Alto Adige (South Tyrol) wine region of northern Italy. The estate is situated in the village of Montagna, south of Bolzano, an area known for its alpine vineyards and cool climate conditions that are ideal for producing fresh, aromatic wines. The winery has been owned and managed by the Pfitscher family since its founding in 1861, and today it represents more than seven generations of continuous family involvement in winemaking.
Originally established as a mixed agricultural farm, the estate gradually evolved into a specialised wine producer during the twentieth century as the family increasingly focused on viticulture. Over time, the Pfitschers developed a reputation for producing high-quality wines that reflect the distinctive character of Alto Adige’s mountain terroir. The winery is currently run by members of the latest generation of the family, who continue the tradition of direct family management.
The estate’s vineyards cover around 17–20 hectares and are spread across several locations in southern Alto Adige, including Montagna, Egna, Cortaccia, Ora and Fiè allo Sciliar. These vineyards are planted at elevations ranging from roughly 300 to 900 metres above sea level, allowing the grapes to benefit from large temperature variations that help preserve acidity and aroma.
In 2011, the family constructed a modern winery near Montagna designed to blend with the surrounding landscape and improve sustainability. Today, Tenuta Pfitscher produces a range of both white and red wines typical of the Alto Adige region.
