About Varvaglione
Varvaglione 1921 is a family-owned winery based in Leporano, in the Salento area of southern Italy, close to the Gulf of Taranto. Founded in 1921 by Cosimo Varvaglione, the estate has remained in the hands of the Varvaglione family for four generations. Today it is led by Cosimo Varvaglione alongside his wife Maria Teresa and their children, combining long-standing tradition with modern winemaking techniques.
The winery farms around 150 hectares of estate vineyards and also works with trusted local growers across Puglia. Benefiting from a warm Mediterranean climate and sea breezes, Varvaglione focuses on indigenous grape varieties such as Primitivo di Manduria, Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera, Verdeca and Fiano, while also producing selected international styles. Its portfolio includes DOC and IGT wines, with Primitivo-based bottlings among its most recognised and internationally exported labels.
