About Zephyr
Zephyr Wines is a family-owned estate in Marlborough, New Zealand, rooted in four generations of farming along the fertile banks of the Opawa River in Dillon’s Point. Originally a successful dairy farm, the property was transformed in 1988 when Owen and Wendy Glover planted the first grapevines, recognising the potential of their soils and climate to produce world-class wine. In 2007, the family launched Zephyr, led by eldest son Ben Glover, one of New Zealand’s most respected winemakers with more than two decades of experience crafting wines for some of the country’s top producers.
The name Zephyr—meaning a gentle breeze—pays tribute to the prevailing winds that shape the vineyards, moderating temperatures and contributing to the purity and freshness in the wines. Today, the estate is planted to Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir, varieties that thrive in Dillon’s Point’s deep loam soils and cool maritime influence. Zephyr wines are known for their expressive aromatics, textural depth, and elegance, with a style that balances vibrancy and personality.
Still owned and operated by the Glover family, Zephyr reflects both a pioneering spirit and a deep connection to place, producing wines that capture the character of Marlborough with finesse and integrity.
