Tasting Note

The 2015 Darmagi opens with typical notes of menthol, coffee powder, herbs, cassis. Rich and dense texture at the palate, with ripe dark cherry, preserved black currant, blueberry, and plum. The wine shows a solid structure, great volume in the palate, fine-grained tannins and lifting acidity. Very long finish.

Product Notes

Gaja Darmagi is a sophisticated and opulent wine, perfectly balanced with complex and intense flavors. This wine is produced by Gaja winery, one of the most renowned and prestigious wineries located in the heart of Piedmont, Italy. Darmagi, meaning "what a pity" in Italian, refers to the circumstances under which the vineyard was acquired. The vineyard was initially purchased by Angelo Gaja's grandmother, who sold it to fund her son's education. Gaja re-acquired the vineyard in 1996. Gaja Darmagi is crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and reflects the unique terroir of the vineyard, resulting in a full-bodied wine with notes of blackberries, tobacco, leather, and spices. This wine is a true representation of the art of winemaking from one of Italy's most esteemed producers.
