Product Notes

Leeuwin Estate Prelude Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is a premium wine from one of Australia's renowned wineries. This wine is an excellent example of the unique terroir of the Margaret River region in Western Australia. The wine has a rich, deep ruby color and a fragrant bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, and integrated oak. The palate is rich and full-bodied with a bright acidity that balances the fruit and oak flavors. The tannins are firm but not overpowering, providing a delightful structure and length to the finish. Leeuwin Estate Prelude Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon has the potential to be cellared for several years, allowing the flavors to develop and mature.

Tasting Notes

Bright, lively and fragrant nose with blackcurrants and dark cherries, combining with higher notes of clove, cummin, black cardamon and star anise. Beneath subtle notes of coffee and cocoa lie in the background. Fine and delicately structured palate featuring boysenberries, blackcurrants and plums. Volume and density through the mid-palate is balanced with a bright mineral acid line, finishing with seamless tannins.

About the Winery

Leeuwin Estate

Located in the Margaret River Valley of Western Australia, the Leeuwin Estate stands right in the centre of the family-owned wineries. You can find five founding wineries in the Margaret River district, and Leeuwin Estate is one of them. It was in 1972 that Robert Mondavi, who had come from the Napa Valley, identified the high potential of the Leeuwin Vineyard region and decided to make it a prominent wine region in Australia.

With his rich experience in the winemaking field, Mondavi was able to mentor Denis and Tricia Horgan and make them understand that their simple cattle farm could go on to become one of Australia’s popular wine labels one day.  The Western Australian Department of Agriculture helped the couple to transform the cattle farm into a vineyard.

Initially, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Pinot Noir were planted on these vineyards that now stretch across 121 acres.  Over the years, wines from Leeuwin Estate became highly popular. As a result, Denis and Tricia Hogan were included in the honourable society of “Members of the Order of Australia” for their efforts to promote tourism in Western Australia, in the year, 2011.

The Art Series Chardonnay is the flagship wine of this label. According to wine experts, this wine is one of the best Chardonnay wines that one can taste in Australia. Decanter also recommended this wine as the best Chardonnay in the world. The world started taking notice of Leeuwin Estate after this recommendation, and there has been no looking back, ever since.

Apart from the Chardonnay varietal, Leeuwin Estate has also released its Art Series of wines in other varietals, such as, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. These vintage wines are unique from the rest of the wines, because these bottles have a beautiful painting by a famous Australian artist on them.
