Product Notes

Luddite Shiraz is a bold and complex red wine originating from South Africa's Stellenbosch region. It is made using premium Shiraz grapes that are handpicked and sorted to ensure only the best fruit is used. The wine is aged for up to 20 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a rich and full-bodied wine with a beautiful deep ruby color. On the nose, Luddite Shiraz boasts aromas of black currant, black pepper, and dark chocolate. The palate is equally complex with flavors of blackberries, cloves, and subtle hints of smoky oak. The wine is well-balanced with a firm tannic structure and a long, lingering finish. Luddite Shiraz is an outstanding wine that can be enjoyed now or aged for several years in the cellar.

About the Winery

Luddite

For a wine company to become successful and well-reputed in its country, it should have passionate winemakers as founders. That’s exactly why Luddite is one of the well-loved South African wine company today. It was founded in the 1990s by Niels and Penny Verburg. Both of them were friends even before they attended college together. After they finished college, they moved to Europe, which was when Niels travelled to different countries and picked up the tricks of the trade.
