Tasting Note

Deep violet in color with red flashes. The very intense nose mixes notes of red and black fruit with aromas of spice and a hint of picor typical of the variety. On the palate the wine is well balanced between its potency and freshness, with a prolonged, intense finish with good volume.

Product Notes

Matetic Vineyards Corralillo Carmenère is an elegant and complex red wine that highlights the best of Chile's winemaking traditions. This wine is made from 100% Carmenère fruit, which was hand-harvested from the vineyards of Matetic Vineyards. The grapes were carefully selected and sorted before being fermented in open tanks with natural yeasts. The wine was then aged in French oak barrels for over a year, adding depth and complexity to its fruity and spicy flavors. On the nose, this wine offers an array of aromas, including black cherry, blackberry, and cassis, with a touch of cinnamon and clove. On the palate, it is smooth and silky, with a long-lasting finish that leaves you wanting more. Matetic Vineyards Corralillo Carmenère is a wine that pairs beautifully with grilled meats, venison, or spicy stews, but it is also a fantastic accompaniment to strong cheeses or dark chocolate.

About the Winery

Matetic Vineyards

In 1892, Jorge Matetic-Celtinja came to Punta Arenas by travelling from Fiume, an ancient port in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is known as Rijeka in Croatia of today’s time. He became the first generation of his family to reside in Chile. The origin of Matetic Vineyards started in 1999 when the first vineyards got planted and harvested in the Rosario Valley. The place, situated in a location surrounded by the coastal valleys of San Antonio and Casablanca, became the pioneer of producing cool-climate and high-quality wines.
