Product Notes

R. Pouillon & Fils Brut Rose 1er Cru is a delightful champagne characterized by its unique blend of flavors and aromas. This champagne is made with a combination of grapes including Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay which are carefully selected from some of the best 1er Cru vineyards in Mareuil sur Aÿ. The end result is a pale pink color with a lovely bouquet of ripe red fruits, peaches, and a hint of brioche. On the palate, it has a refreshing acidity with notes of strawberries, raspberries and lime which makes it a perfect aperitif. The wine is aged for 2-3 years in the bottle, which gives it a fine and delicate texture. Highly recommended for special occasions or a romantic dinner.

About the Winery

R. Pouillon & Fils

Champagne R Pouillon is a family-run French wine estate that was established in 1947. The estate is run by the third-generation family member, who takes immense pride in taking forward the legacy of a brand that created some historic wines in the past. The estate, from these beautiful and authentic French champagnes are produced, is spread across 36 selected plots on 6 hectares of vines in some of the riches wine regions of the world –Champagne, Ay Grand Cru, Mareuil-sur-Ay, Mutigny and Epernay.

Ever since this estate was founded, it believed in the philosophy of taking care of the vineyards. The family believes that great wines are the ones that are created in the vineyards. Organic and biodynamic farming methods are adopted in the vineyards to make the soils as natural as possible. Limited yields and short pruning methods are used in the vines to increase the minerality of the grapes, as they are the ones that go on to make high-quality champagnes.

A lot of attention is given to the soil and the fruit by the Pouillon family since 1947. Each of the 36 plots is checked carefully and vinified separately, so that the fruits grown in each of them represent the character and flavor of these plots in them. Even in the advanced world of today, the Pouillon family believes in following traditional methods only when it comes to pressing the grapes, to retain the original structure, flavor and aroma of the berries.

As part of the natural vinification processes, the winery uses indigenous yeasts for fermenting the wines. A malolactic fermentation that happens later adds more intensity to the wines here. For the maturation process, oak, enamel or clay barrels are used based on the quality of the terroir of the fruits. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier are the varietals used to create the awesome terroir-specific champagnes under this label.
